IT Systems Administrator

Our client is a government agency established under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. It is the entity responsible for the collection, collation, processing, analysis, and dissemination of information with a view to combating money laundering and the funding of terrorism.

 

They are currently seeking to recruit an IT Systems Administrator within their Network & Security team in order to sustain their growth.

 

The chosen applicant will be:

  • Assisting in setting up standard network infrastructure. WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and information security measures;
  • Assisting in implementation and maintenance of new virtualized IT infrastructure systems on premise and on cloud environment;
  • Conducting research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts;
  • Interacting and negotiating with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and services;
  • Assisting in the designing and performing server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other disaster recovery process in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies;
  • Performing in depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems;
  • Monitoring and testing system performance, assisting in preparing and delivering system performance statistics and reports;
  • Providing orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems;
  • Participating in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system; update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and period systems review;
  • Providing assistance for the implementation of the Business Continuity and recovery Plan; and,
  • Creating and maintaining documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MQF level 5 or better in Computer Science;
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a similar role, candidates with related Microsoft Certifications and with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred;
  • Fluency both in Maltese and English;
  • Proven experience in assisting in the design, development and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products;
  • Excellent understanding of information security standards and of network fundamentals;
  • Experience in managing Microsoft active directory and windows servers, and knowledge in virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix and Microsoft;
  • Strong customer service orientation and experience with ITIL based help desk software;
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required; and,
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
