Maintenance Manager

Our client, a leading Company operating in the FMCG sector in Malta, is currently seeking to recruit a Maintenance Manager. 

 

The chosen candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Packaging Manager to develop, design and integrate new packaging technologies and other improvements in the various processes s/he is responsible for;

·        Taking care of the Maintenance team and their development;

·        Coaching and developing the department’s technical staff and managing their performance against set objectives;

·        Managing staff through the Human Resources Information System and rostering staff according to established company procedures;

·        Promoting a culture of continuous improvement with all team members, which includes due consideration to product and process quality and cost reduction;

·        Managing the implementation of the preventive maintenance programme throughout the Packaging plant, scheduling the relevant preventive maintenance tasks and assigning their implementation to the team; 

·       Managing all spare parts for the different plants and equipment on the company’s ERP system to ensure availability of critical parts;

·        Organising immediate trouble-shooting and repairs in the case of plant breakdown, according to lean principles with the objective of minimizing down-time;

·        Ensuring that all works are carried out in line with the company’s OHS, Hygiene, Quality and Food Safety Standard;

·        In liaison with Packaging Manager, ensuring that the maintenance program is maintained by exploiting line availability.;

·        Monitoring process, production data and utilities consumption trends regularly to identity the need for corrective and preventive maintenance.;

·        Managing risk assessment reports and taking any other necessary measures to ensure health and safety of subordinates or that of other employees; and,

·        Being available outside normal working hours to assist and advise in the event of equipment breakdown and ensure that process down-time is kept to a minimum.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be in possession of an MQF Level 6 in Engineering;
  • Have at least three years’ working experience in a similar role;
  • Have working experience in electrical and mechanical installations as well as manufacturing process automation
  • Have good communication skills in both reading and writing in English.

 

The ideal candidate must be organised, have excellent problem-solving skills and can work on his/her own initiative. S/he must be able to plan and deal with unexpected changes on a day-to-day basis and must be able to work with tight deadlines.
