Senior Accountant

Our client, a supermarket operating in Malta, is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant in order to sustain their growth.

 

Whilst reporting to the Finance Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing day-to-day accounting duties and ensuring the smooth running of the department;
• Managing the month-end process leading to the submission of accurate monthly management accounts in a timely manner;
• Assisting in end of year financial statements and annual audit;
• Preparing reporting or other analysis on an ad-hoc basis;

• Ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and procedures and assisting in internal audits;

• Taking care of the management of cashflow, intercompany loans and reconciliations;

• Coordinating payments;
• Assisting and managing ad-hoc projects;

• Assisting in tax compliance and liaising with external tax consultants as required;

• Assisting with the compliance of relevant laws and registry requirements, internal regulations and procedures and privacy requirements; and,

• Liaising with relevant authorities and internal departments.

 

The ideal candidate must:

• Be fully qualified or in the final stages of obtaining an MQL Level 6 qualification in Accountancy or an ACCA qualification;
• Have previous experience in a similar role;
• Have knowledge of SAP, which will be considered an asset;
• Have good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Italian.

 

The ideal candidate must be organised, have excellent problem-solving skills and can work on his/her own initiative. S/he must be able to plan and deal with unexpected changes on a day-to-day basis and must be able to work with tight deadlines.
